The combination between the digipak and the music video was effective. We drew inspiration for the cover from one of our artists Eminem’s Recovery album in which the camera has taken a picture of him from behind in which he is walking onto an open road. Our cover is similar to that but isn’t taken on a road it was taken from a cliff because cliffs usually are lonely places and our character feels as if he cannot reach out to anyone because he feels nobody will understand his pain and what he is going through. We have a put a sepia effect onto the picture to show and reflect the bleakness of the situation; the sepia colour usually connotes sadness of this very serious situation in today’s society. The use of the black border is to almost feel like it’s a cage and he is trapped within the situation and only has one choice to set everything straight which is to harm the bully.
The back cover shows the character standing on a Cliffside with the view of an open sea that shows that he is releasing his sins to the sea. However we chose not to use the sepia effect to show how the situation has changed hence after listening to the song he eventually gets his own back and without the use of the effect we hope to show he doesn’t feel the trapped nor hurt. He has his head held down because even though he takes pride in what he has done he still doesn’t agree with himself deep down in his own subconscious mind. The use of bright colours such as the fresh bright green grass and the vibrant blue was to show the new lease on life he has. The font used on both of the covers is an effect which reminds you of whole story of the song and the text almost looked like someone has drawn it on using a pen. Also we have the barcode on the bottom which is where it usually is and we have the record labels and the copyrights act stamped on the bottom right of the cover to try and make it seem as authentic as we possibly could.
Both of these two covers are very effective when it reminds the listener of the very twisted and sick tale of obsession and pain and the harm that one person can commit to another and not know the knock on effect it has. The video has an effect in which it looks like it is from and old roll of film and the front cover almost has that element of the past on it. The inside covers show the lyrics of the song and at the sides is a picture of Theo which was taken during the filming of the video which is the moment he finally came to the home of the victim. He has a shocked expression on his face however it is also one of which he is curious about the whole situation.
The inside cover to the other side of the CD was taken especially for the cover our character has his head down to again show that he is pain and since Theo is on the side of the CD case he is much taller and stronger than Joshua and it almost looks as if he is looking down in a threatening manner towards Joshua. We have put Joshua into the circle outline in which the CD should fit into as an effect. That is purposely put in there to show that even though they aren’t in a moving picture Theo is still the dominating power between the two. The is an burnt paper effect put into the background for the left inside cover which was also a key prop in the video that was put in also purpose to highlight the use of the key prop since that is what led Theo to ultimately his own ending. The cover also has a quote from the verse that he mimicked and I have picked out the most powerful lines to put as a quote at the side of the cover.
The background for the magazine cover is taken from the back cover of the single. The front cover of the single is featured in the to again remind the customer of how the cover would look. The main sellers of hard copies and digital copies of music logos are featured at the bottom of the page. A gradual transparent fade is implemented into the image and a banner is inserted to separate the quotes we have used to rate the single as is traditionally used by real life artists. Once more we have written where you can get the single and which album they will appear on.
